Birkenstock’s Long History Since 1774
The Birkenstock brand has a long history and goes back to 1774. Since then the German-based footwear brand is producing top-quality styles and achieved to be one of the top five global footwear brands. Today, the brand is having around 3,000 employees and is run by the six generation.
Since the beginning of 2013, the company has created more than 1,100 new jobs, almost all of them in Germany. The majority of its products are produced at its own production factories in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Hesse, and Saxony.
The Heart And Soul Of The Brand
The Birkenstock brand is known for its super comfortable footbed. Therefore, this is the heart and soul of each pair of the brand that leaves the factory. Each pair is proudly made in Germany using natural materials, handcraft, and bespoke machinery. The footbed’s anatomical features are the fruit of orthopedic knowledge passed down through generations. Its invention was inspired by a singular aim: to enable walking as nature intended (Naturgewolltes Gehen). This approach made a very successful footwear brand, known and worn all over the world.
