The Denim Brand Since 1962

The Betty Smith brand began business in 1962 as the first maker of ladies’ jeans in Japan. In 2003, they opened the doors of the first museum dedicated to jeans where they exhibit and show the origin of jeans, the history of domestically produced jeans, and the history of Kojima, the denim mecca in Japan.

The Jeans Museum And Experience Factory

The Betty Smith Jeans Museum is divided in two, they have the Jeans Museum and they have the Experience Factory. The Jeans Museum is focused on the history of jeans, while the Experience Factory is a workshop where visitors can learn and customize their pair of jeans with buttons and rivets. You can also learn more about repairing your pair and making small denim accessories as well.

Next to that, you can also have a look inside the sewing factory. Here you can experience how they make their Betty Smith jeans since the 1960s, the oldest jeans factory in Kojima.
