Levi’s Presents From The Archives Part 12

In the 12th episode of Levi’s’ series ‘From the Archives‘, historian of the brand, Tracey Panek, shares the story of the S.S. Central America ship. This ship sank off the coast of North Carolina in 1857 carrying 30,000 pounds (13,600 kg) of gold. In December 2022, artifacts recovered from this ship from Central America went on auction.

The Content Of The Episode

In this new episode, Tracey shows behind-the-scenes at the auction to learn the history of the ‘Ship of Gold’ and whether a pair of button-fly pants that sold for $114,000, were early Levi’s jeans. You will also see what Tracey bought for Levi’s archive that came out and from the ship too, dating to the legendary ‘Gold Rush‘ period.
