A Special Limited Edition Selvedge Jeans
This year marks the 75th anniversary of the American DEVIL-DOG® Dungarees denim brand. To celebrate this milestone, the brand developed a special pair of selvedge jeans, made with American woven selvedge fabric. This limited-edition pair of DEVIL-DOG® is just released and represents the high standards of the brand.
The Story Of The DEVIL-DOG® Brand
The story of DEVIL-DOG® started in 1927 when Louis Rosenstock founded General Sportswear; a small manufacturer based in Ellenville, New York. He aimed to create a brand that was based on his values such as tradition, integrity, and vision.
It was after World War 2 in 1948 that Louis launched the DEVIL-DOG® denim brand. Soon after the launch wearers called these jeans ‘Tough as a Marine!’ as the strength and durability were unbeatable for many. As Louis proudly served the army himself from 1917 to 1918, he choose the name DEVIL-DOG® in honor of the Marines and all the armed forces that fought so bravely for his country.
Five years later in 1952, Louis founded the Devil Dog Manufacturing Corp. In Zebulon, North Carolina. For over 70 years, the company has been a staple in the Zebulon community where their iconic DEVIL-DOG® signs sits proudly on top of their distribution center to this day.
In 2019, the DEVIL-DOG® brand was reborn as a menswear lifestyle brand to continue its legacy and is a casual and comfortable brand supplying mostly jeans and chinos for every men’s body type. Next to these, DEVIL-DOG® carries today also a full tops collection with t-shirts, shirts, sweats, jackets, and even accessories.
Today, the brand is a proud partner of the Wounded Warrior Project, better known as WWP. This project is dedicated to honoring, empowering, and helping America’s injured veterans to achieve their highest ambitions. As a proud partner, DEVIL-DOG® supported them by donating already $125,000 to WWP since 2019 regardless of sales.
The Key Details Of The Anniversary Jeans
The DEVIL-DOG® anniversary jeans is a slim straight five-pocket cut denim style. It features many unique details such as the rose oxide branded logo hardware and the qualitative YKK zipper fly. The top button is made with an enamel and antique brass shank, while the rivets are enamel with antique nickel.
The inner pockets are made with authentic bandana pocketing from Repreve, a recycled material fiber. On the waistband, the DEVIL-DOG® brand name is printed, and two woven labels are attached as well, showing the brand name and fit of the jeans.
The back pockets feature a busted seam, and the back patch is made as a special anniversary edition, uniquely numbered, 1 through 75. The back patch is eco-friendly as it’s made from recycled leather and apple skin.
An American-Woven Selvedge Fabric
The DEVIL-DOG® jeans is made with an American woven 10,5oz selvedge fabric by the Vidalia Mills. This mill is known for rescuing original American Draper shuttle looms from the legendary Cone Mills White Oak plant from Greensboro, NC that closed its doors at the end of 2017. These same looms were used when DEVIL-DOG® was originally launched in 1948.
The selvedge fabric can be seen on the inside of the fabric, so cuffing your pair while wearing is recommended, but also on the coin/watch pocket. Over time, the fabric will age beautifully with each wear and will show your personal fading pattern, which makes each pair extra unique.
The Special Celebration Bandana
The 75th anniversary is celebrated extra with a specially developed bandana. Each pair of the DEVIL-DOG® limited-edition jeans will be delivered with one of these bandanas in the right back pocket.
The bandana was designed by graphic designer Brock Forrer from North Carolina to create a special tribute to the DEVIL-DOG® North Carolina heritage. Good to know, this bandana can also be purchased separately at the brand’s webstore.
A True Collector’s Item With Only 75 Pairs
The special DEVIL-DOG® anniversary pair of is produced in a small run of 75 pairs only, referring to the anniversary years of the company. Each pair is packed in a branded cotton bag, a true collector’s item for each denimhead.
