Amsterdenim Supports Food Bank Amsterdam
Denim brand Amsterdenim started a creative project to support the food bank in Amsterdam. For the project they asked five artist to use their Freddy denim jacket as a canvas to express themselves. There were no restrictions for the artists, just be creative. The five participated artists for this unique Amsterdenim project are;
The Amsterdenim ‘art jackets’ will be for sale during a special auction. The donation of these jackets goes fully to the food bank in Amsterdam North.
Amsterdenim Freddy jackets as canvas
Today the jackets will be on display during the Noord Gestoord event with the theme Denim vs Dance. One of the jackets will be giveing away to a lucky visitor. The event is a collaboration between with Studio Raar, Beer Bier, Whosisjody with Sebastiaan Hooft as guest DJ, Defakto and Amsterdenim. See the full details on the event flyer.
The brand name, Amsterdenim, shows the strong connection between Amsterdam and denim. The logo of Amsterdam reflects the pointed rooftops of the Amsterdam’s remarkable canal houses. But its also a link to the sails of a boot. Amsterdenim makes the link with the trade history of the Kapital of The Netherlands. To keep the connection with the trade past Amsterdenim is using old brown sails for their hangtags and also the inner pockets have the same old brown colour. These are the brown sails on the boats used for transporting the turf and the materials needed to built houses. Remind that the first dungarees were also made with the same kind of fabric from old sails and tent canvas. As Amsterdenim says in their own words: ”With Amsterdenim we give you the opportunity to buy a piece of Amsterdam.”
