The Kick-Off Of The Brand
The Uskees brand is founded by Paul Clapham after working for a big corporate denim brand and then importing old American vintage workwear styles. Soon, he saw a good friend of his wearing an authentic Chinese worker jacket and loved the simplicity of the design. This became the cornerstone of building his Uskees brand. A brand that carries a range of long-lasting, functional clothing, designed for the 21st century. Made to be worn by everyone, and built to last.

The Story Behind The Brand
The Uskees brand is built around classic menswear styles such as t-shirts, sweats, smocks, shirts, jackets, pants, and accessories. Classic timeless staples that can be worn each day of the week. While the designs look clean and simple, they are produced with high-quality and organic materials.
The brand puts passion for the craft in everything they do. The traditional techniques used in their styles show the respect they deserve, and are made to create something for the future. Uskees offer free repairs and maintenance, to ensure that their products don’t end up on the scrap heap. They want to offer a genuine alternative to the outdated notion of fast fashion. Something that makes a difference to their audience, and in turn, our environment.
The Materials Of Uskees
Everything Uskees is doing starts with materials. From textiles to buttons to packaging, they’ve made deliberate choices with longevity and reducing waste in mind.
Most of the Uskees styles are made with cotton, as this material is very versatile, breathable, and comfortable to wear. The cotton they use for the collections is grown organically, so the cotton farmers don’t use toxic chemicals, which is better for both the environment and farm workers. The cotton they got from their suppliers is GOTS-certified organic cotton. This means that all Uskees garments are made from fully certified fabrics.
The thread in the Uskees garments is not organic, however, they use strong and durable polyester thread so their garments last longer. Their wash care labels are made from recycled polyester.
In the collection, they use original Corozo buttons as harmful plastic didn’t feel right. The Corozo comes from the nut of the Tagua Palm, a tree that grows in the equatorial rainforests of Central America. This ‘vegetable ivory’ is used for buttons and other craft purposes because of its longevity and its appealing texture and color.
The New 2022 Collection
The latest Uskees collection is all about classic silhouettes with a contemporary edge. You can say that this is rooted in the DNA of the brand. For example, the brand new coach jacket is a stand-out, it’s a relaxed and boxy layering piece with drawstring detailing to elevate your everyday.
They’ve also rethought cord suiting, with a new selection of colors to carry you through the cooler months. Worn together or as separates, for formal or everyday occasions, these cord pieces are versatile and enduringly cool.
The collection is full of nods to the history of workwear, with details like reinforced elbow patches, triple-needle stitching, and tool pockets.
You’ll find favorites from previous collections in new colors too, including the #3001 overshirt in peacock, clay, and lime.
The Special Deadstock Project
Next to this, Uskees is also working on a special deadstock project. This will be the first installment of a project which will continue to drop alongside their regular collections. They’re sent their design team around the UK, seeking out quality leftover fabrics that would have otherwise gone to waste. They were inspired by what they found.
The result of this trip is three utility-inspired deadstock bags. These three new pieces are all about durability, usability, and sustainability. Properly useful bits of kit you’ll reach for every day, made from midweight 300gsm cotton canvas. Plus, they’re all made from unloved cuts of fabric that may have ended up in a landfill otherwise.
These Uskees bags are the definition of wearable, roomy and uncomplicated. The basin is a large, tapered tote with external pockets in a contrasting color, press stud detailing, and a super useful internal zipped pouch utilizing deadstock metal buttons. It’s perfect for grocery shopping and weekends away.
