The Legendary Kaufmann Company
Amsterdam Vintage Watches created together with Tenue de Nîmes store a unique blue denim watch strap. The first idea came alive when AVW sent some rags of their oldest pair of Tenue de Nîmes jeans to the legendary Kaufmann company in Germany. Kaufmann is a third generation, German-based company, specialized in creating accessories with pure artisanal workmanship. They received the first sample but weren’t completely satisfied with the outcome. It was a natural step to contact Tenue de Nîmes to achieve the perfect watch strap.
Japanese Denim Fabric
Together they reached out Japanese denim mill Kurabo, and with the help of fabric master Marco Bonzanni, they selected two beautiful raw denim fabrics to utilize in their straps: A sky blue selvage fabric and a double black fabric.
85 Steps To Produce A Handmade Watch Strap
To produce one single watch strap is very time-consuming as it takes 85 steps to produce a handmade watch strap. Each production step is done in house at Kaufmann; the factory craftsmen glue, stitch, grind and sew every single strap. The result is two beautiful and unique AVW X Tenue de Nimes watch straps that will complement any vintage or new time-piece out there with a lug width of 20mm.
The unique blue denim strap will fade like a pair of jeans, and last a lifetime as it’s made of heavy denim fabric which is stitched to durable rubber. Perfect for your classic vintage Rolex as pictured here below.
