A New Retail Education
Last month a new innovative retail and denim experience education opened its doors named Blue School. The Blue School is located in the new Westfield Mall in Leidschendam, The Netherlands. It’s the biggest indoor shopping mall in The Netherlands.
About The Blue School
Blue School can be found in The Gallery, a wing in the Westfield Mall that is fully focused on destination retail. Retail is changing at breakneck speed, so consumers find personal attention and customization increasingly important. Customers want to feel that the collection within the store has been created for them. So, when they’re coming to brick-and-mortar stores, they expect good service, and an expert sales team and destination retail aims to do just that.
Also, partly due to the pandemic, it has become increasingly important for consumers to make conscious and sustainable choices. Blue School responds precisely to this: leisure, hospitality, sustainability, and experience play a leading role in the program.
The Blue School students will learn everything as it comes to sustainability, innovation, and retail trends within the denim industry. A unique retail concept for entrepreneurship and training, all under one roof. The aim is to create the ultimate denim retail experience.
Denim Store Manager
The first group of students will be trained to become a (denim) store manager which will start this September. Until then, a selected group of students will do an internship at Blue School. They will focus on sustainable denim and will be guided by two retail experts Yvo Sonneveld, and Raymond van Uffelen. Both have more than 20 years of experience within retail and denim, so they can perfectly share and teach their knowledge with these students to get them ready for the future of retail.
Retail Information Point
Blue School will also have a Retail Information Point where entrepreneurs, employees, students, and teachers can learn with each other, share knowledge, research and experiment. As a student store, Blue School is one of the ‘Labs’ of the Retail Innovation & Experience Campus. The Retail Innovation & Experience Campus is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in which the municipality of Leidschendam-Voorburg, ROC Mondriaan, mboRijnland, The Hague University of Applied Sciences, business associations, and real estate company Unibail Rodamco Westfield work together. The goal is to work together as entrepreneurs, education, and government to work on attractive shopping areas with innovative retailers. Blue School is part of this campus.
The Collection At Blue School
Sustainability is given extra attention at Blue School, so expect also brands for men and women in the store that fits with this approach. Dutch brands as Kings of Indigo and Kuyichi have been at the forefront of this for years and are an example in the jeans world. Next to these two denim brands, the store will carry a fine selection of quality brands as Amsterdenim, Scotch & Soda, Hub footwear, Alfredo Gonzales, Le Temps des Cerises to name a few. In addition to jeans, they also sell t-shirts, sweaters, jackets, dresses, footwear, and accessories, so you can succeed for a full new outfit.
Next to their retail experience, they’re also working on an online Blue School webshop where you can shop 24/7.
