Last week Amsterdam turned into blue again for the 4th time during the Amsterdam Denim Days 2017. Denim ruled the whole week in Amsterdam with a lot of (store) events, shows and a denim festival. One of the main parts, next to the Kingpins Show, was the Blueprint Festival. The Blueprint Festival is a denim celebrated consumer festival. The Blueprint Festival showed some really cool activities as denim lectures by Adriano Goldschmied, Shunji Ohashi aka Denim Ninja and Floortje Dessing to name a few. One of the other highlights is the Denim Market where several different vintage dealers sold some vintage denim and army clothing. Also a lot of outstanding brands where part of the Denim Market as: Denim.Lab, Indigo People, Benzak Denim Developers, Atelier de l’Armée, Bluehanded, Butcher of Blue and the Italian denim designer Piero Turk released his 2nd edition of his book ‘A Life with Denim’.
Outside of the Blueprint Festival was a Blue Avenue with cool projects as the indigo Converse Chuck ’70 customization by the Tenue de Nimes store, Blue Avenue expo by Code Magazine, WE Fashion and several foodtrucks and drinks.
Another spot was filled with projects that showed the Future of Denim. Some projects were the outfits from the Global Denim Awards, the collab from G-Star, the new Denim City & Red Light Denim, presentation from WGSN, etc.
Inside the main building there was the Denim Venue with participants as Denham with their ode to Japan, Lee Jeans did some live silkscreening on t-shirts, Kings of Indigo showed their Triple-R limited items made of old stock, Nudie Jeans did some magic on a sewing machine, Orta showed their collab with the Vintage Showroom, Tonello from Italy was present with their special designer project, Wrangler showcased their collab with artist Peter Max, Scotch & Soda launched their special ‘Aloha Mokum’ sweat and the list goes on and on…
The Amsterdam Denim Days edition 4 was a huge success with International visitors from all over the world. Next to a gathering for denim professionals its a meet-up festival with likeminded people which are all sharing the same passion for the blue gold. A week is just to short to check out everything, so in case you have missed something, here’s a small recap of the Blueprint Festival. See you next year!
