Juan Manuel Gomez is a Colombian (from Medellin) painter with a total different style than others by the name De Ver Azul. Together with his wife, Laura Montoya, he created a new paint process using indigo as their main colour. They don’t use the common pencills but tools from a jeanmaker. This gives their art a very special and unique look. Juan worked for many years in the denim laundry process where he learned his blue skills. That’s also how he came up with the idea to do something different, something really outstanding.
As we know denim is usually offered to us in garments that provide comfort, durability and luxe. Juan and Laura are taking it to another level by using denim as a canvas for their paintings. The indigo in combination with their jeanmaker tools ends up in blue art on a very high level. For the denim they are using a lot of Italian Candiani fabrics in order to get the most beautiful paintings. For Spring Summer ’16 they also worked on a special project together with Denham Jeans.
