The Start Of Hiut Denim Company

Hiut Denim Company started its business back in 2012. The brand is founded by couple David and Clare Hieatt after they sold their previous brand Howies to Timberland. Their goal was to set-up another successful brand, this time with denim, and so the story began.

The Denim Dream

They’re living in a small town called Cardigan, located on the far western edge of Wales. A town that is known as the biggest British supplier of jeans until 2001. At one point they produced 35,000 pairs of jeans a week with their 400 jean makers. One day they decided to move the jeans factory to Morocco, so all the employees lost their jobs.

David and Clare had a denim dream of bringing back the production in their hometown with Hiut Denim Company. Now, after a few years, they moved into the old building where the large denim factory was running in Cardigan. They built their denim factory where they produce around 100 to 200 pairs of jeans a week with their skilled team.

The Documentary By Shopify

In 2018, Shopify, a commerce platform that makes it easy for anyone, anywhere, to sell things online, made an inspiring documentary about Hiut Denim Company. In the 30-minutes you will see and learn how they build their brand, and how they run their business. A very inspiring docu to watch for everyone that admires denim, and entrepreneurship.
