ORTA Supports École Supérieure Des Arts Et Des Techniques De la Mode
ORTA, the renowned denim fabric manufacturer with over 70 years of textile expertise is proud to continue its support to the ESMOD (École Supérieure des Arts et des Techniques de la Mode) in Turkey. This fashion education institution has been supported by Vakko, one of Turkey’s leading brands, since 2015.
At ORTA, they recognize perfectly that global culture, the environment, and all their denim fabrics are all connected. With this viewpoint in mind, they try to teach young minds, new and diverse aesthetic and ethical perspectives of denim. The denim company strongly believes that the future will be shaped by designers who can act as the bridge between art, science, and technology. Therefore, they hope to be inspired by these designers to get new ideas and energy.
The pillars of art, sustainability, and technology they advocate for are important in the design aspect. Therefore, ORTA gives weight to ensuring that young minds know fabric, responsible materials, and technologies when they are bringing their new and groundbreaking ideas to life.
The Launch Of Numerous Inspiring Projects
This ORTA x ESMOD partnership has seen the launch of numerous inspiring projects aimed at supporting young designers. As part of the ‘Fashion Design and Management Diploma Program’ within Vakko ESMOD, working in groups second-year students participate in a competition that challenges them to use ORTA denim fabrics to create casual outfits, highlighting their technical skills and creativity.

As part of this collaboration, ORTA invites Vakko ESMOD students to their Istanbul showroom each season. Here, students learn about the unique qualities of denim and ORTA’s sustainability initiatives. They also get the chance to visit the ORTA’s Vintage Showroom archive in Istanbul. Following the visit in light of their instructors’ directions, students start to work on their casual wear projects using ORTA fabrics and the inspiration that they get from their visits. Throughout the project, the students get a chance to consult with experts from ORTA as well.
“The process then moves to the selection of looks, with ORTA team joining in for selection stage. ORTA representatives come to the academy, make their selections, advise them on their designs and use of denim fabrics and washes and students start to the realization phase. During this time, fashion design and pattern-making teachers guide them to ensure the designs are realized using the right fabric. Then, the fitting process begins, ensuring each design is properly executed.” stated by Vakko ESMOD instructors Jasmina Benferhat and Eliza Betti.
Winners Are Attending The Denim Academy Program
The best projects are selected by the jury composed of Vakko ESMOD academicians and ORTA experts. The winning designers are entitled to attend the Denim Academy program at ORTA mill located in Kayseri, Turkey. The winning looks are gifted to ORTA as well. And ORTA exhibits these designs in its showrooms and at trade shows when possible, to support the designers and increase their visibility to help them take their first steps on their journey.
