Warp-Face Denim Paper Project

Duncan Eldridge from the UK, better known as Warp-Face (@warp-face 0n Instagram), released yesterday his ‘Grow a Pair’ initiative. With this project he shares his passion for denim, but also want to shine a light on our mental health.

What Is Warp-Face?

Warp-Face is essentially a preservation project. Born out of a desire to preserve old paper and print-making techniques, and their inherent qualities, while hopefully helping preserve our planet too. The designs from Duncan are made from waste denim repurposed into paper and often printed using hand-cut wooden dies.

Grow A Pair

The ‘grow a pair’ seed packets are made by hand from jeans paper. So, old jeans are recycled into paper. At the bottom of the jeans are indigo seeds, while on the left there’s cotton. All you need to grow your pair of jeans.

The ‘grow a pair’ idea is a double entendre, it refers to a pair of jeans, but it’s also an insult meaning “man-up” or be more masculine. Sadly the annual statistics for male suicide in the UK tell us this is not the answer. Talking to someone and sharing your feelings is.

All The Proceeds Go To Charity Calm

With this seed packet project, Duncan wanted to shine a light on the importance of caring for our mental health, during what has been an exceptionally challenging year for many of us. The UK charity CALM has been doing just that tirelessly for many years, so he’s donating all proceeds from this project to them.

Overwhelmed Reactions

As said, yesterday his initiative was launched, and the positive reactions were overwhelmed, just the same day he was sold out. So, Duncan is going to make some more to meet demand in the coming weeks. If you want to get your hands on it too, please contact him via DM on his Warp-Face feed here.
