Hand Made Bluehanded Indigo Home Collection

Bluehanded is an initiative by John Abbate that honors artisanal natural hand-dyed indigo textiles. Textiles that dates back with a very long history where the process can be mainly divided into four types: Tie Dye, Batik, Valerian Fold, and Blue Calico. The Mandarin name for indigo-dyed toile or calico is lan yin hua bu, blue-printed flower cloth, a more poetic name that ties it firmly to it’s flower-based designs. Other prints are simple, geometric, and despite being centuries old they look surprisingly modern.

Slow And Hand Made

Next, to their fashion and accessories styles, Bluehanded also have a unique Home Collection. All the items as cushions, table and bed sheets are made and developed with designers around the world for bespoke and exclusive patterns. This slow fashion process rejects mass-produced products, referring only to fabric and products made by hand.

Collaborated Artisans

Bluehanded worked together with artists as Alex McKenzie, a self-taught artist originally from Australia, and Alister Shapley, a screen printer who runs a design and screen printing studio based in north London. The outcome with the Home Collection collaboration is fresh, authentic and original. With this collection, you can bring some indigo vibes in your own living- or bedroom too.
