The New Collection Is Focussed On Denim
The new Lee 101 collection for Fall Winter ’21 is just released. This premium collection of Lee is focused on authentic styles of the long history of the American denim brand. The core is denim, as always, and their premium selvedge fabrics are woven on shuttle looms in Italy and Japan. The jeans are unwashed, so in their pure dry state, ready to be worn in, and ready to shape to your own body.
The Different Selvedge Fabrics
In the Fall-Winter collection, fabrics are coming from two different Japanese mills, the blue-selvedge 49, a beautiful 12 1/4oz 13 dip denim from Kaihara, and the 70, a 13oz from Kurabo, with a turquoise selvedge. Both fabrics are left-hand, the signature fabric known as Lee.
But, there’s also an Italian selvedge fabric in the collection included from Candiani. This mill provides since 1938 top-notch qualities produced in a sustainable, yet authentic way. Their incredibly super compact 13oz black denim is used on a Storm Rider jacket and 1950s fit Riders to make an outfit that would have made Johnny Cash, known as the man in black, proud.
Also, this season Lee 101 created a heavy-weight champ 210z selvedge fabric for the true denim connoisseurs. This fabric with green selvedge ID is used for the brand’s iconic 101Z (Zipper) jeans and will be ready to break in and achieve deep visual denim shades.
Two Iconic Winter Jackets
Next to new denim fabrics, they used over-stock fabrics as well and reintroduced these in new styles for a sustainable approach. A key piece in the collection is based on their popular 91-B jacket. This time they produced the jacket with a selvedge fabric from the Kurabo mill and lined the jacket with the brand’s classic striped blanket lining and a cozy sherpa collar in a premium wool blend.
Another highlight is another winter jacket, made with Western details, and made using leftover stock of an incredible and authentic Tuff Duck canvas from Kaihara, Japan. The jacket features leather piping and reinforcements around the western yokes and pockets, leather buttons, a cozy shawl collar in the same premium wool blend as the 91-B jacket, and a padded lining in the classic wool blend stripe.
Other Styles Within The Collection
Also, high-quality made tops are created as t-shirts and sweats with graphics that are inspired by 1950s musical logos, as the Sun Records and the old RKO Radio pictures. Both items are treated so they have a heavy and vintage look and feel. The sweat design features a quality chain-stitched embroidery detailing echoes 1950s-style.
There’re chest pocket t-shirts, original denim Western shirts, and overshirts included as well. The Sky Captain overshirt is made with a wool mix with a regular fit and slightly boxy cut that evokes heritage styling, this is their premium take on the overshirt category. The Western inspiration comes through on the yoke detail and double flap pockets. Another Western style is the 1950’s Riders style of Lee 101 and is now available in bright blue and black fabrics.
