Lee 101 Casey Tibbs Bandana Design Sweatshirt
The current Fall-Winter collection of Lee 101 is dominated by Casey Tibbs. Casey Tibbs was a world champion Rodeo rider. In 1979, he was inducted into the Rodeo Hall of Fame. He held the ‘World All-Around Cowboy Champion’ title twice, in 1951 and 1955. After his successful Rodeo career, Tibbs became a stunt man, stunt coordinator, technical director, and actor for the film industry.
Authentic Archival Bandana As Inspiration
Within the Lee 101 collection, they used an authentic design from an archival bandana of the brand. The design shows an all-over print with rodeo graphics as Bronc Riding, Bull Riding, Calf Roping, and Steer Wrestling. These typical rodeo graphics links to the American rodeo lifestyle culture. A culture that was also important during the 1940s and 1950s for the denim industry as a promotion.
The design is used in the collection on a Western shirt, Bandana, and a sweatshirt.
Details Of The Lee 101 Sweatshirt
The Lee 101 crew neck sweatshirt has a vintage cut and is made with a heavy, premium quality jersey. On the front, it shows the classic heritage v-insert. This insert was originally made in the 1930s and 1940s on sweatshirts to act like a sponge, as those shirts were used as athletic gear at that time. So, the v-stitch controlled the stretch of the neck, and therefore it made it more easy to pull your sweater over your head.
On the sweatshirt are larger ribbed cuffs added, same as the hem. The all-over print of the authentic Bandana is printed with a bold Lee 101 Riders all-over print, while the sweatshirt itself is Maritime blue.
