Lee 101 Pays Tribute To The Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Races
For Spring Summer 2020, the premium collection of Lee, Lee 101, celebrates the endeavor and style of the mechanics and racers who pushed their motorcars to new speeds at the Bonneville Salt Flats Speed Races in Utah in the mid-1950s.
About The Bonneville Speedway
The Bonneville Speedway (also known as the Bonneville Salt Flats Race Track) is an area of the Bonneville Salt Flats northeast of Wendover, Utah, that is marked out for motorsports. It is particularly noted as the venue for numerous land speed records. The Bonneville Salt Flats Race Track is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The salt flats were first used for motorsports in 1912 but did not become truly popular until the 1930s when Ab Jenkins and Sir Malcolm Campbell competed to set land speed records. (source Wikipedia)
Key Item Of The Lee 101 Collection
One of the key items of the collection is the 101 Whizit Coverall. The coverall is one of the cornerstones of the strong and rich American brand’s workwear history. This SS2020 coverall version is inspired by the brand’s famous Whizit overall. Same as some other outstanding pieces from the new collection, this item has also embroidered badges and details recall the original graphics of 1950s service mechanics.
Ecru Denim Fabric
The Lee 101 Whizit Coverall is made of a sturdy 11.25oz ecru denim fabric with indigo stripes. The colorful embroidery patches on the front and the sleeve recalls the Bonneville races. This Lee 101 style is a truly iconic piece and one of the must-haves for this season.
