Redcast Heritage X Tanuki Jeans Limited-Edition Of 100 Pairs
Recast Heritage worked for the first time together with Tanuki denim for a collaboration pair. The collaboration jeans is called Homura and is a limited-edition with only 100 pairs made. The jeans will be launched today, Friday the 24th of June.
A Unique Coloured Pair Of Jeans
For this new collaboration, Redcast Heritage worked hard for almost a year with Tanuki to achieve a unique colored pair of jeans. The collaboration was born quite natural as the brand loved Tanuki’s work and their philosophy already for some years. Now, finally, they came together to create their Homura jeans, which means ‘burns with a blue flame’.
The fit of the collaboration jeans is a new slim straight cut. It’s actually the first slim straight style for Tanuki. A jeans-style that can be worn on every’s body type, and which can be worn with different footwear styles too. It has a mid-rise, a fairly slim thigh, and practically no taper from the knee downwards.
The Selvedge Fabric
After months of testing fabrics, the final version is a 16.5oz fabric that feels like a comfortable 13oz when wearing. The fabric is made of 100% cotton, an Australian and Texas blend. The fabric is very special, very hairy, with great texture and slub.
The jeans were shipped from the sewing factory to a dyeing workshop in a different place to proceed with the overdye. Like with any other natural tint, Akane is not a strong dye, so a single soak is not enough. The jeans are hand-immersed one by one for a few hours in basins containing the Akane ferment. They are then rinsed in water and dried before repeating the process. In total, the process is repeated a few times for each pair of jeans. This involved a lot of time and dedication but resulted in beautiful variations and depth in the red hues. The result in the weft was a color similar to a glass of good red wine in tone and depth, and for its part, the warp has a gorgeous deep indigo tone with natural reddish nuances that will fade to high contrast blue with red undertones.
The Details Of The Collab Jeans
The Redcast Heritage x Tanuki collab jeans feature copper hardware combining in perfect harmony with the fabric’s hues. All the seams as well as the selvedge ended up with a red color due to the overdye. The Akane dye can be seen in its full glory when taking a look at the photo of the inner pockets. The iconic Tanuki herringbone fabric is completely covered in a deep red.
The natural vegetable tanned leather patch is 0.3 mm thick. It’s cowhide leather with a special collaboration design, and an Akane plant branching out against the rising sun. They wanted a patch in a natural tone that would age in the best possible way and would acquire a nice patina tending towards brown and whiskey hues.
