Denim Sofa Cover Collaboration
Dutch denim brand Mud Jeans is known for their sustainable approach as they make their jeans from natural materials; organic and recycled cotton. No pesticides are being used in their production. And, they’re also known for their innovative ‘lease a jeans’ approach.
Now, they made a new step with their latest collaboration with big Swedish furniture giant Ikea. Together they developed a denim sofa cover which is made of old pairs of blue jeans.
Details Of The Process
In Europe alone, each citizen throws away an average of 11 kilos of textiles per year. Less than 1% of this textile waste is recycled into new textiles. With the Mud Jeans X Ikea collaboration, they want to change this. In comparison with 10% cotton, they saved 27,000 liters of water and 67% of CO2 emission per cover.
With the collab project Mud Jeans came with their recycling expertise, while Ikea used one of their iconic sofas. The Klippan is already more than 40 years one of their best-seller sofas in their collection. An eye-catcher which is part of many living rooms for years.
The Price Of One Jeans
The Mud Jeans X Ikea sofa cover is now available and priced more or less as one pair of blue jeans of the brand. And, if you bring two pairs of old jeans to an Ikea store you will receive a 10% discount on the cover. To promote this collaboration they made a short documentary to give you more insights into the process.
