The Re-Issue Of Naked & Famous Big Slub Jeans
The Canadian denim brand Naked & Famous released their 18oz Big Slub Selvedge jeans. This release is actually a re-issue of what they used in the very first Naked & Famous denim collection in 2008. Now, the slubby denim fabric is back in three different fits; Super Guy (skinny fit), Weird Guy (standard tapered fit), and the Easy Guy (high-rise tapered fit).
The Slubby Selvedge Fabric
The Naked & Famous Big Slub jeans is made of a Japanese selvedge denim fabric that has an extremely uneven surface texture. To achieve these heavy slubs, extra thick irregularly shaped slubby yarns are used in combination with loose slow weaving techniques. The result is a denim fabric with an uneven organic texture reminiscent of hand-woven fabric.
The yarn is rope dyed with indigo and due to the thickness and irregular shape of the yarn, indigo absorption varies from section to section. Over time with wear, these yarns will fade and produce three-dimensional high-contrast indigo tones.
Woven On Authentic Toyoda Shuttle Looms
The fabric for the Big Slub jeans are woven on vintage Toyoda shuttle looms in Okayama, Japan. Although the fabric is rigid, it will easily break in due to the fact that the fabric is woven loose, so it feels quite comfortable from day one.
The Key Features Of The Jeans
All the fits in these Big Slub jeans by Naked & Famous are cut, sewn, and produced in Canada. They feature contrast stitching, classic redline selvedge ID, 10 oz natural vegetable tanned leather patch, and silver metallic buttons and rivets.
