A Unique Collaboration With Biotech
Designed in collaboration with Circular Systems, BIOTECH fabrics bring to the market a new natural fiber refined with a waterless process.
Naveena Denim Mills teamed up with Circular Systems in a unique collaboration that transforms agricultural crop leftovers into scalable, high-value natural fiber denim fashion products with their Agraloop™ technology.
BIOTECH fabrics are made with natural fiber derived from CBD hemp crop residue and refined into a textile-grade fiber called Agraloop™ BioFibre™.
Ms. Aydan Tuzun, Head of Global Sales and Marketing at Naveena Denim Mills said: “At Naveena, we believe that the future of denim is circular. Innovative new low-impact fibers, post-industrial and post-consumer waste, and new processes using less energy, water, and chemicals…are developments that reflect this trend. We are very pleased to have collaborated with Circular Systems to bring a new innovative low-impact fiber to the market transforming crop leftovers into denim fashion products. Crop residues are sometimes burned, left to rot, or used in low-value industrial applications. The Agraloop™ technology upgrades these residues into natural staple fiber ready to be blended and spun into yarns with other natural fibers like organic and recycled cotton. The result is durable, low-impact fabrics with unique natural fiber aesthetics.’’
A New Natural Fiber Refined With A Waterless Process
The CBD Hemp BioFibre™ is DryRefined, which uses nearly zero water to manufacture the fiber. With a specialized processing technique, cellulose fiber from stems and leaves are purified into soft fiber bundles ready to spin into yarns.
The Life Cycle Assessment conducted by SCS Global shows that Agraloop™ CBD Hemp BioFibre™ processing uses 99% less water, and releases 54% less CO2 to the atmosphere compared to conventional hemp processing.
The Multiple Benefits For Biosphere
Leftovers from crops are sometimes burned, left to rot, or used in low-value industrial applications. The Agraloop™ allows these feedstocks alone to potentially fulfill more than 3 times of current global fiber demand.
End Products Are:
- Durable and long lasting.
- Anti-bacterial.
- With unique bast fiber aesthetics.
- Compliant with Global Recycled Standard and Organic Blend Content Standard.
“Denim is one of the most unique product categories in fashion, so ubiquitous worldwide yet incredibly niche and personal to each individual at the same time. We are very excited to collaborate with Naveena to bring Agraloop BioFibre denim to the market. With a significantly reduced water and CO2 impact compared to conventional fibers, we can celebrate the classic, natural fiber aesthetic we’ve all grown to love in our jeans while reducing the need for cotton and building toward circularity.” added Andrew Schulenburg, SVP of Marketing at Circular Systems.
