About The Greenwood Mills
The Greenwood Mills story is one of an iconic South Carolina business whose commitment to quality remains the cornerstone of its success. The company was founded in 1889 by William L. Durst and John K. Durst. At its start, the company had 2,500 spindles, 84 looms, and 75 employees. The mill rapidly expands, adding four other Greenwood-area plants over the next decade.
In 1908, James C. Self invests in Draper looms, the best technology available at the time. This acquisition kicks off an era of expansion for the company. It becomes one of the first textile companies in the country to adopt long draft spinning, allowing for better quality yarns, economies of scale, and lower operating costs.
Years later, in 1979, Levi Strauss votes Greenwood Mills number one on quality, customer service, and on-time delivery. Today, Greenwood Mills remains the gold standard for the textile industry.
The Design Of The Shirts
312r Kaleb ‘v’ regular fit
The first shirt, the 312r Kaleb ‘v’ regular fit, is made with a special curved front and back yoke. They both have a big pointed yoke design, the same as the front pockets. The shirt is single-stitched with looks like ‘drunken stitching’. The outcome is special and unique. The closer of the shirt features authentic YKK snaps, and the shirt has a loop hanger and printed neck label. At the bottom of the shirt, they embroidered a DDL branding element.
319r Diablo swt regular fit
The second shirt, the 319r Diablo swt regular fit, is also made with a special front and back yoke. Both are inspired by the classic sawtooth, but now also tweaked and stitched with the ‘drunken stitching’. Even the larger chest pockets feature this unique stitching technique. Another highlight is are the sawtooth-shaped cuffs. This shirt has also a loop hanger, YKK snaps, printed neck label, and embroidered DDL detail.
