The First Regenerative Cotton NFT For The Denim Industry
Orta launched the first NFT as a denim mill for the denim industry during the Kingpins (denim fabric show) in Amsterdam last week. This NFT is a retro-future denim design of universal utility-wear for people made of 100% regenerative cotton, called The Blueskyer NFT. This NFT represents a bluesky vision of conscious consumption and regenerative system to create the future, we want to live in today.
About Orta’s The BlueSkyer NFT
Orta also recognizes in a time where climate anxiety is a real threat to global mental health, that a more optimistic vision of our future has to be championed by all.
“If we are to move away from the culture of waste and carbon intense processes and move our industry forward, we need adapt a bluesky mindset. At ORTA, we want to build a regenerative platform…a systems transformation of our denim industry through provocative innovation, open-source technology and collective action. Only then will we truly achieve a more optimistic and regenerative denim industry of tomorrow.” explains Dr. Sedef Uncu Aki, director at ORTA.
The Launch Of The Blueskyer NFT
The Blueskyer NFT is launched on Rarible NFT marketplace, secured by Temple Wallet, an easy-to-use cryptocurrency wallet for the Tezos blockchain . It is launched at Kingpins, where Orta introduced both the virtual NFT and the physical, one-of-a-kind 100% regenerative cotton denim suit.
The Orta Blueskyer NFT Is Minted By Tezos
True to its climate-positive mission, the Orta Blueskyer NFT is minted by Tezos, an energy-efficient proof of stake blockchain whose carbon footprint after 50 million annual transactions “was similar to the average annual carbon footprint of only 17 people” according to an LCA assessment of the company’s carbon footprint.1 To understand this efficiency, most other blockchains’ energy demands today rival those of nation states. 2
