Introducing The Rasta Inspired Selvedge
PMP Denim is a denim and menswear label from Indonesia that is inspired by the pot culture and the music surrounding it. For their latest release, they joined forces with Gamatex for a special rasta-inspired selvedge collaboration.
The Collab Companies
PMP Denim is Pot Meets Pop’s sub-label that focuses on denim. Their partner for the rasta selvedge products, Gamatex, is founded in 1981. They’re an Indonesian-based textile company specializing in producing authentic and innovative denim fabric. In recent years, they have tried to perfect their denim production craftsmanship by restoring the Toyoda vintage shuttle loom machines which are used by most major Japanese mills, such as Kurabo and Kaihara, to create their best version of selvage denim.
Selvedge Fabric Inspired By The Brand’s DNA
With the collaboration PMP Denim and Gamatex worked on a new take on a vintage-inspired selvage denim fabric with Pot Meets Pop’s very own DNA. The collaboration boasts rasta-inspired selvage lines of red, yellow, and green, which use the legendary machine, Toyoda.
The Collaboration Styles
This collaboration consists of two sets of denim pants and denim jackets from two different selvage denim fabrics. The denim jackets are Type 1 and Type 3 inspired while both jeans are classic five-pocket jeans. All the items are made with unwashed selvedge fabrics which will shape and age to the wearer.
