Red Wing Shoes 8859 Classic Moc Toe Navy Portage
Red Wing Shoes dropped again a must have moc toe boot. In case you have missed the limited edition Indigo Moc Toe 8882 from a couple of years ago (read more about it here), this new release is another one to keep your eye on. It isn’t so blue-ish as the indigo version, but the navy colour is a perfect match with your (rigid) pair of jeans too.
The new Red Wing Shoes 8859 Classic Moc Toe in Navy Portage leather is made at Red Wing, located in Minnesota. The classic moc toe boot was originally designed for hunters and farmers in the early 1950’s. It was built for hard labor and harsh weather conditions. Over the years the moc toe style became a true cult boot within the denim industry too.
The Origin Of The Moc Toe
The moc toe name originally comes from the word Moccasin. This is the traditional Algonquian Indian word for the U-shape design of the toe. The 8859 is a variation on the ultimate classic of the American company: The 875 style. The boot has a white Cushion Crepe Wedge outsole with Traction Tred and comes with the original gold/tan round taslan laces.
