Red Wing Shoes Collaborates With Retailer Urbanstar
Today, a special release will be launched by Red Wing Shoes and retailer Urbanstar from Rome, Italy. Together they celebrate that the first pair of Red Wing Shoes arrived 20 years ago at the store. The outcome of the celebration is a custom-made pair of classic 8833 moc toe boots, packed in a limited-edition special box. The boots are stamped with Urbanstar on the side and there’s a special celebration label on the tongue. In total, only 60 pairs are made.
The Urbanstar Store
The owner of the Urbanstar store, Andrea Ciommi, was a newcomer to the world of fashion retail but had over a decade of experience as a construction worker. While the Red Wing brand was familiar to the Urbanstar team, it was relatively unknown to the mainstream public. The goal was to introduce the right customers to the quality and craftsmanship of the American footwear brand.
The Special Created Box
The collab boots come in a specially developed box at the event. It’s a custom-made iron toolbox similar to the ones used by carpenters on worksites. The toolbox, which contains shoe care and a collectors’ mini boot, has been handcrafted by Metallum’s blacksmiths and deliberately designed to have an aged and rusted effect on its surface.
The rusted appearance of the box contrasts with the durability of the shoes themselves. This symbolism represents the inherent meaning of the collaboration, while items may wear and tear, passion endures.
