Final Story Of The Trilogy
After the groundbreaking videos of ‘Want Show Laundry‘ and ‘The Concrete Cowgirl‘ as part of Red Wing Shoes‘ campaign ‘Out of Fashion’, they now released their final inspiring story. The last story of the trilogy is about beekeeper DJ Bioni Samp from London, England. His real name remains secret…but he gives an insight into his world full of bees.
An Extraordinary Musician
It’s no longer a secret that musicians from all around the world are taking their inspiration from the natural world for centuries. But, Bioni Samp is an extraordinary musician with his hive synthesizer that harnesses the sounds of his beloved bees. His interest in bees began already decades ago, but the rapid decline of pollinator populations over the last 50 years has driven him to bring extra attention. And, he’s doing this by creating music made exclusively from the sounds of bees.
The honey frames are fashioned into microphone rigs, while Samp also conducts and records electrical signals through containers of honey. Once he captured their signals he uses software and his homemade synthesizers to isolate frequencies and manipulate the bees’ sounds into trance-like compositions. The outcome is something you never heard before.
The Inspiration Of His Music
The music of Bioni Samp is inspired by Punk music’s spartan three-chord ethos. The created sound reflects the three types of bees in every hive: the queen, the workers, and the drones. That’s it! A perfect balance of an electro-organic expression of the sounds of nature.
The Main Mission Of Bioni Samp
Bioni hopes that if people become interested in bees through the sounds of his music, they will also become interested in saving the bees. The main mission is to make people aware that our planet and the pollinator ecosystem are anything but disposable.
Watch The Video
In the video by Red Wing Shoes, you will go with Bioni Samp to his office, the bee zone, and watch how he listen to the sound of honey. And, from those sounds he makes music.
