A Boots Staple Since The 1930s
The iconic 1155 Pecos boots have been a staple in the American footwear collection since 1930. Originally, the boots were favored by cowboys and farmers in the Southwest and Texas. This American-made classic has become an essential piece for anyone looking to combine style and functionality.
The classic pull-on of the 1155 Pecos boots offers absolute toughness and durability for the full range of heavy work environments. The full-grain leather boots get their name from the nails that cinch over to firmly lock the heel so that they only come off when you want them to. Underneath, the boots feature a sturdy Vibram cork sole that offers best-in-class resistance to oil, gas, chemicals, abrasion, and heat. All in all, it is a pair that will last a lifetime!
The History Of The Pecos Boots
In 1923, the Red Wing Shoes Company established a branch office in Dallas, Texas. This was to capitalize on the expanding Southwest trade. The region, known for its vast ranches, plantations, and refineries dating back to the Wild West era, had a unique culture where cowboy boots, originally from Spanish riding boots, became a market staple. To penetrate the Texas and Southwest boot market, Red Wing Shoes began producing the iconic cowboy boots in the late 1930s.
By 1959, the footwear company had refined the cowboy boot style, introducing the Pecos boot, named after a town in Texas. They trademarked the Pecos and expanded its variations. The Pecos boot quickly became a favorite among ranchers and farmers nationwide, extending its appeal far beyond Texas and the Southwest.
The next year, in 1960, the company developed boots made with a side seam design which is a part of the upper construction of the typical cowboy boots.
