  • @Pikebrothers released their Mitchell pattern camouflage styles for this summer. I’m wearing the brand’s 1962 OG-107 shirt and pants.

The shirt and pants were originally part of the regular field uniform of the American armed forces from 1952 to 1963. The first ‘Type I’ model was issued to troops in 1952 and remained unchanged in shape and cut until production ceased in 1963. With slight modifications, the shirt remained in service until the early 1980s. Both styles proved themselves in the field especially because of their ruggedness and comfortable fit.

The shirt has a loose fit and is therefore ideal in a colder season with another shirt underneath, while the pants are made with a loose fit too, and a button fly.

This Mitchell camouflage pattern was issued to the United States Marine Corps starting in 1953 in the form of tents and helmet covers. The use over time was not limited to the USMC. The Mitchell, which was also called the Leaf Pattern, has been just as popular with U.S. Special Forces units such as the 5th Special Forces.

Since the original print and fabric was a reversible heavy canvas fabric for tent’s it proved to be too heavy and uncomfortable for uniforms. Therefore small runs were printed for uniforms by private manufacturers. These were non-reversible and made of a lighter fabric. The non-standard pieces could then be purchased privately, for example, from small tailors in Okinawa, Japan. For the @pikebrothers’ Mitchell print, they used exactly such a privately sourced set from a Japanese production of the 1960s. 👌

  • Another day, another sneak preview of the upcoming collab with the one and only @blueblanketjeans by @antoniodibattista from Italy. Stay tuned for more details. Coming soon…! 💪
  • Today, I’m wearing the new @cathcartheritage denim jacket.

The Denim Chore Jacket by Cathcart Heritage is made with a fine 12 oz slubby denim fabric. The jacket features details that link to the period when this jacket style was originally launched in the market. So, key details of the jacket are a branded zipper closure, zip breast pocket, two lower slanted pockets, spearpoint collar, and side adjusters. The jacket is stitched with white thread and shows red backtacks for extra strength.

On the inside of the jacket, there are two large internal pockets, which you can use to stock your wallet, phone, and keys. 👌

Btw, love the pocket flasher!

  • 5 Reasons To Wear Denim Each And Every Day!

1) Cool. ‘Denim is a way of life!’

Denim looks great on everyone. As there’re so many different denim fits and variations these days, there’s a perfect fit and design for everyone that suited their body type. You will always look cool wearing denim. Remember the classic quote: ‘Jeans are always a good idea!’, that’s because of the coolness, the mystery, the romance, and the adventure that is attached to denim.

2) Durable. ‘When all else fails, wear denim!’

Denim was first used for workwear garments as they needed sturdy clothes during their heavy work. That denim is durable has been proven during all those years. Next to its durability, it will look more and more beautiful over time as the indigo chips off when using, the white core of the threads will be more visible, and in return, you will get these nice denim fades which we all are aiming for.

3) Practical. ‘When in doubt, wear denim!’

Denim can be worn on each occasion. Whether you’re going to work, hanging out in the city, going to a party, riding your bike, or when meeting your parents-in-law for the very first time, wearing your beloved pair of jeans is always on point. You are never under or overdressed as denim is such a versatile fabric. There’s a denim design for every moment and every occasion in your life.

Go to Long John (link in bio) to read the other 2 reasons too! 💪
