Silvercreek Launches Limited Celebration White Oak Jeans
Exactly three years ago Silvercreek opened the doors of their flagship store in Breda, The Netherlands. Silvercreek is a Dutch denim inspired brand with roots and inspiration from the silver period in Colorado, US. The Colorado Silver Boom was a dramatic expansionist period of silver mining activity in the U.S. state of Colorado in the late 19th century. Silvercreek honors this period within their denim collection and unique denim store.
Special White Oak Jeans
To celebrate the 3 years anniversary of the Breda store they will launch today a very special limited edition jeans, Lewis Selvage. The Lewis Selvage is a regular tapered fit. The jeans is a connection with the Silver Creek historical mining town, but also to the country where jeans were born, The States.
To strength the American feeling they used a selvage fabric from Cone Denim White Oak. White Oak is one of the most respected denim mills in history and part of Cone Denim. The White Oak mill was open since 1905 and located in Greensboro, aka Jeansboro, named after a 200 years old White Oak tree. This tree served as a gathering place for people traveling to Greensboro from the surrounding countryside. Sadly they closed their doors by the end of 2017 (read more about the closing here). This news kicked-in as a bom within the denim industry. With their closing, the industry lost an institute as it comes to unique selvage denim fabrics.
Luckily Silvercreek got their hands on some of the last meters of their iconic redline raw selvage fabric. A fabric with an outstanding blue color with a lot of typical White Oak fading potential.
The Details Of The Lewis Selvage Jeans
The Silvercreek Lewis Selvage jeans is made of a 13.5oz raw redline right-hand selvage fabric. The fabric is sanforized, so expect minimal shrinkage after wash, and is colored with pure indigo instead of the common synthetic indigo. The selvage redline is also visible on the coin pocket and on the closure of the jeans.
The buttons of the jeans are finished with original silver and are reinforced with leather for extra strength. Also, the rivets have the silver finish. This to make a link to the brand’s inspiration. On the inside of the fly, they embroidered the Silvercreek brand logo. This same logo is also used on the back pocket. The pocketing of the jeans are made with durable 100% cotton 10.5oz ecru bull fabric. On one inner pocket, they printed the Cone Denim design, and the other one has a Silvercreek print with all the jeans specifications. You can even capture all your wear, rinse and wash days in the dairy section of the design.
The front pockets have an iconic cut and sewn triangle and stitch detail. An authentic detail is the chain stitching on the inside of the top of the back pocket, and on the hem of the jeans. This stitching technique will give a nice roping effect with wear and washing.
On the back of the jeans, they placed a genuine leather branded Silvercreek patch, which is made of vegetable tanned leather. This patch will age nicely with the jeans itself.
To highlight the White Oak fabric extra they used the mill’s woven label on the inside of the waistband. Each jeans is produced with 3-inch extra length, so you can wear them with cuffs to show the redline selvage fabric.
True Limited Edition
The Silvercreek Lewis Selvage is a true limited edition since the White Oak mill is closed. In the production, they used the entire fabric roll which ended in 392 pairs. Each pair will be hand-numbered and will be delivered in a special box with a letter and a certificate of origin. The Silvercreek Lewis Selvage jeans will be available online and in their flagship store in Breda, The Netherlands. Get ’em fast while you can to own a piece of American denim history.
