Swiss Jeans Freak Ruedi Karrer Turned 60 Years Young
Ruedi Karrer, better known as Swiss Jeans Freak, turned 60 years young last Sunday. Internationally he’s the denim father of all denim heads and the king of fades. Fades on denim are his big passion next to climbing mountains in Switzerland. Since 1973, Ruedi is collecting pairs of jeans and jackets with a focus on the aging of the denim fabric. During all those years his collection has grown into an extremely huge archive of 15.000 pieces, which is still growing each day. Watch some piece from his archive here.
Limited-Edition Celebration Jeans
The private collection of Ruedi has turned his passion in the world’s first independent Jeans Museum, located at his hometown Zurich. His ultimate dream is to expand the museum into a denim mekka for each denim enthusiasm. To achieve this denim goal he’s looking for partners who want to invest in his museum to bring it to the next level. Another long-cherished dream of Ruedi is to make his ultimate pair of jeans. So why not combine these two to celebrate his 60th birthday.
Together with the Italian denim mill Candiani he developed a special Swiss Jeans Freak selvedge rigid fabric. Craftsman Imjit made from the specially woven fabric a limited-edition batch of 60 pairs by hand with details chosen by Ruedi. The idea behind these pairs of jeans is to sell them and all the income will put into the Jeans Museum as part of its future steps.

Documentary About Ruedi Karrer / Swiss Jeans Freak
To promote his denim dream and the partnership with Candiani they made a nice documentary where Ruedi is sharing his story, his passion for denim, and the collaboration story. The almost 20-minutes long documentary was premiered last week at Bluezone (watch the photo recap of the show here) in Munich, but now you can watch it here too. The documentary is made by Candiani and co-produced by Denimhunters. Congrats Ruedi with your 60th birthday, and your collaboration project!
Ps, in the video you can see Ruedi wearing the Long John X Lee Jeans X Joost Bohnen X Blendomatic Storm Rider collaboration jacket which we made six years ago ; )
