Another Edition Of Bluezone

This week another successful edition of the denim fabric trade show Bluezone in Munich took place. At the show, which is part of the main fabric show Munich Fabric Start, more than 100+ top-notch denim mills were exhibiting their new Spring Summer 2024 collections.

Talking About Denim

Next to seeing all the new denim developments, there were many inspirational denim talks with the most talented people within the denim industry too. This time I was asked together with legendary denim collector Ruedi Karrer (better known as Swiss Jeans Freak) and denim consultant Thomas Stege Bojer, founder of Denimhunters to give a denim talk. Bryan Szabo, known as one of the founders of denim fading competition Indigo Invitational and his recently launched book ‘The Rebel’s Wardrobe‘ (more about this book here), would join us, but unfortunately, he was caught by a heavy cold, so he couldn’t make it.

The Content Of The Denim Talk

Our denim talk was themed: ‘When denim becomes a lifestyle‘. The idea of this denim talk was to give people more insight into how we started with our denim passion, how I and Thomas started with our online denim platforms in 2011, how we started as denim consultants to help denim companies on marketing focussed projects, and Ruedi was sharing his inspiring story as a fanatic denim collector. Since 1973, Ruedi has collected around 14,000 denim styles, jeans, and jackets. His main obsession with denim are heavily faded pairs of raw denim that are never washed. The denim evolution of a pair of unwashed jeans is by far his main drive to be such a denim addict.

It is always such a pleasure to share what you love to do the most, inspire people and talk about denim. This ultimate combination was exactly what we did this week on stage at Bluezone. Luckily many other denim enthusiasts joined us and shared their experiences too. That’s the beauty of denim, it connects people that are ‘blue hearted’.
