HNST Is A 100% Vegan Brand
HNST Jeans is taking its responsibility very seriously. As a fully circular company, they want you to look good, but they also want you to feel good about what you put on your body. The brand does whatever they can to contribute to a better tomorrow, a better and bright future for everyone. This results in a highly sustainable approach for their entire production chain which means they partner up with production partners with the same critical mindset to achieve their high standards. On top of that, they’re also very keen on choosing the materials for their products.
The denim brand has been able to become a 100% vegan company. Something they’re proud of! This means they produce a full range of premium products (denim and tees) using no animal products, fibers, or leather.
Animal Free Materials On All Their Styles
HNST is using animal-free products only in their entire collection because of their love of animals and planet earth in general. That’s why they decided to not use leather back patches like most brands. Instead, they use Jacron paper, which is sturdy and qualitative as well and looks very fresh too.
Next to that, they also skipped other animal fibers in their collection such as wool or silk to be consequent. And last but not least, they do not use any animal-based coatings.

Coatings Made Of Pectin
HNST Jeans did use a coating derived from shellfish in their beta collection. They conscientiously made that decision to avoid a plastic (PVA) coating and therefore, avoid microplastics. At the time, they knew their solution wasn’t perfect, so they kept on looking and testing for innovations. Luckily, they were able to replace the shellfish-based coating with pectin (the white tissue found inside oranges).
The Importance Of Saying No To Animal Products
HNST Jeans thinks that it’s really important to refuse any kind of animal product in their collection. This is to stay close to brand values and DNA. With this approach, they can be 100% sure the production of their products does not contribute to animal cruelty. As always, they take the planet, people, and animal-friendly approach. Now and in the future! After all, contributing to a circular economy means we want to live in harmony with nature and therefore also with animals.
