The Launch Of DiResta Makewear By Jimmy DiResta
Jimmy DiResta is the brain behind his DiResta Makewear brand. He started already to make his jeans back in 2013 and shared this on his YouTube channels, which is viewed over 500K times so far. Since that time, he has evolved and developed several different versions, to arrive at the ‘Welders Jean’.
After meeting the ‘Godmother of Denim’ Christine Rucci (read more about her here in ‘Meet the Person’) at one of his workshops they worked together on his brand to get it to the next level. Pulling from his wardrobe, they worked together with a patternmaker and a local factory located in the heart of the Garment District in New York City to create the DiResta Makewear capsule collection of jeans and outerwear.
Behind The Brand
DiResta Makewear is built on the belief that makers need functional pieces in their wardrobes which are designed for those who make, that last for ages, and look forever cool. Each jean is hand cut and individually sewn in the USA, with techniques that include triple-needle, chain stitch, reinforced belt loops, and every seam is felled. The jeans and outerwear are raw and sold unwashed the old-fashioned way, so you can ‘grow a pair’, and finish.
The custom DiResta metal hardware developed by Apholos is made from 100% certified recycled brass and developed using 80% less water. The solid Natulon Ethical recycled brass zippers from YKK and American & Efird heavy-duty D-Core sewing thread are American made and sourced. To further help the environment, all DiResta Makewear products are shipped in 100% compostable bioplastic bags.
