The Start Of The P&Co brand
P&Co released last month their first made in England collection. The story of P&Co started when friends Adison Clark and Lee Timms wanted to build something that would give them creative freedom in 2013. The creative minds started with a run of 45 t-shirts all printed by hand. Fuelled by caffeine, creativity, and some serious craft, they’ve now grown into a global lifestyle brand offering a range of men’s and womenswear.
The Ambitions Of The Brand
When P&Co started with their brand they manufactured certain items in England, but as their ambitions were that high, some of their partner manufacturers couldn’t achieve the level of quality they wanted. But, time changed, and British manufacturing has grown, so now it was the right time to pick up the dream of creating a full made in England collection.
At the end of last year, they started looking for some new factories to work with on a capsule designed and made in England. When they came across Cookson & Clegg, they knew they had found their perfect manufacturing partner.
The Cookson & Clegg LTD Company
The Cookson & Clegg LTD company is specialized in denim and outerwear. They’re already in production since 1860, and kicked-off their company as leather curriers and makers of boots uppers. During the 1930’s they became a key supplier of military outerwear, flying helmets, and leather goods for the British Army and other forces too.
Their 160 years of high-quality manufacturing made them a good match with P&Co to finally fulfill their dream of producing in England. The outcome is that good and satisfied them that they now plan to release each year a Made in England collection.
The Made In England Collection
For the Made in England collection, P&Co sourced every element of each garment, so from buttons, trims, leather patches, to Italian selvedge denim fabric and embroidery threads. The outcome is two must-have pieces, as a selvedge pair of jeans, and a classic US Navy-inspired A2 Deck jacket.
The 204 selvedge jeans
The 204 selvedge jeans is a regular tapered fit style, made as a limited edition. The jeans is made with a 15oz selvedge fabric from the Italian Candiani mill. The fabric is milled with 100% sustainably sourced organic cotton, unwashed, so it will age with time and wear and will shape to the wearer’s body type.
The P&Co 204 selvedge jeans feature fully custom antique nickel branded buttons and finishings, a button-fly closure, lined back pockets with unique stitching, and a debossed natural leather patch on the reverse. This leather patch will age nicely with the jeans itself.
As the jeans is made in a limited run of 150 pieces, they’re all hand-stamped and numbered. They’re a product of hard craft and are designed and made in England to the nth degree.
The A2 Deck Jacket
The A2 Deck jacket is also made in a small and limited run. They’re made with a 10oz Bedford cord fabric which is a heavy-weight corded fabric milled using durable Pima cotton. The design of the jacket goes way back as it originally was used by the military, and an original example was used as inspiration.
The A2 Deck jacket features the same outstanding details as the original including a warm wool-mix lining, storm cuffs, and a buttoned storm front. It also has plastic-free corozo buttons and a dependable YKK zipper. The jacket is also hand-stamped and numbered by hand as it’s produced in a run of 150 pieces only.
