The Die Kerle Book

It’s almost 10 years ago that the first edition of The Heritage Post magazine came out in 2012. This magazine was a new initiative that captures the denim, workwear, rugged lifestyle and everything related. They set a new standard as it comes to lifestyle magazine’s, and always a huge inspiration source for many of us. Now, after publishing 40 issues of the magazine, they decided to bundle the popular Rugged Guys topic of the magazine in a book format.

Rugged Guys is all about sharing iconic, charismatic, and inspiring men with their beloved outfits and belongings. Over the years they featured many guys in their magazine, and now they published a very thick book with 500+ pages full color pages with those Rugged Guys. A perfect compilation, an inspiration book that comes just in time for the holiday season. So, time to sit with the editor-in-chief of The Heritage Post magazine, Stefanie Kobayashi.

In the interview, Stefanie shares all the insides about their new project, their new must-have book, Die Kerle.

LJ: Can you describe the content of the new Die Kerle book?

Die Kerle is best-of of our Rugged Guys section from the past 10 years which features in all The Heritage Post magazine’s. The outcome is a picture book full of style menswear inspirations.

LJ: Is it a soft or hard cover book?

It’s a high-quality made hard cover book with premium paper.

LJ: How many rugged guys are included in the new book?

In total we included 126 Rugged Guys. In the end in was super hard to decide who will be not included in the book, as the paper was already ordered, we had to make a selection of our favorites.

LJ: How did you made the selection of these Rugged Guys?

For the book we tried to find a good mixture of guys. In general we sourced them through the store, our network as well as we receive applications and proposals by mail. All the guys we choose have their own style and charisma.

LJ: Is this book a special edition that will be printed one time only?

It is not impossible to reprint again if it is sold out. We were already basically limited in terms of space for storage and reshipment because the book is quite thick and weighs 1.3 kilograms.

LJ: Will the rugged section continue in future Heritage Post magazine’s?

Of course, we will continue with the rugged section in the magazine as it’s a perfect inspiration topic for our readers. It is always exciting to see what kind of interesting people there are and what kind of stories they have to tell, how they style themselves and what little things shape their lives.

LJ: Is there one specific rugged guy that stand out the most in your opinion?

There are two and unfortunately both have already left us…Wolf had such a special style and he is a perfect example that individuality and a personal style is not dependent on age.

And, Florian was an outstanding and formative personality with a very clear aesthetic perception. Music lovers will recognize him.

LJ: Where and when will the Die Kerle book be available?

Die Kerle is officially available since December 7th. It is available in the book stores and via retailers that stock our The Heritage Post magazine too. These retailers are clothing stores and concept stores all over Europe. Of course, it is also available via our own online store.

LJ: Can we expect a follow up on the book like a volume 2 in the future?

Let’s see in 5 or 10 years. First, we have many other exiting projects for the next few years 😉
