The RRL Denim Backpack
Part of the Spring Summer collection of Ralph Lauren is their RRL backpack. It’s constructed from the same raw American denim as they’re using for their Double RL jeans. This backpack is also branded and part of the RRL collection.
The Origin Of Backpacks
The backpack design is carried on one’s back and secured with two straps that go over the shoulders, but it can have an external frame, an internal frame, and there are bodypacks.
The backpack word, also called and known as knapsack, rucksack, rucksac, pack, sackpack, booksack, bookbag or backsack goes back to around 1910. But, in Germany, they used knapsack, which refers to the German word Knapp, which means food, already since 1603. And, in 1874 the American, Colonel Henry C. Merriam designed a backpack for use by the infantry which was the forerunner of today’s small, frameless backpacks.
Initially, the backpack had been primarily used for military purposes, but the first half of the Twentieth Century saw a rise in the popularity of the backpack for recreational uses such as hiking.
Nowadays the backpack style is one of the most seen and popular styles used by hikers and students, and are often preferred to handbags for carrying heavy loads or carrying any sort of equipment, because of the limited capacity to carry heavy weights for long periods in the hands.
