The Benzak x Bonne Suits Collaboration

For the latest exciting collaboration, Benzak teamed up with Amsterdam-based brand Bonne Suits. Together they created a full denim suit, made of a rigid denim fabric woven by the Italian denim mill Candiani, known as Benzak’s special #2 fabric.

The Collaboration

The Benzak x Bonne Suits collaboration contains a worker jacket style and a pair of five-pocket jeans. The jacket is made with Bonne Suits’ famous double-breasted worker jacket. A simple, but characterized, utilitarian denim that is timeless, classic, and made with a unisex fit. This jacket can be worn each day of the week on every occasion, as a jacket during warmer days outside, and inside as layering.

The jeans is based on Benzak’s popular B-02 Straight, so inspired by an authentic 1940s straight jeans fit. The fit is tweaked a bit with a shaped top block, so it links to the heritage of jeans with a more modern approach. For this collaboration, they have replaced the classic jeans back pockets with rectangular worker-style pockets, which brings the jacket and pants together for this special collab.

The Special #2 Selvedge Fabric

As said, this collaboration is made with Benzak’s special #2 selvedge fabric. This 3 x 1 right-hand twill denim fabric is exclusively woven by the Italian Candiani denim company. The 15oz unwashed vintage indigo color of the fabric represents a shade of indigo used for denim during the fifties and sixties. It’s developed with thicker weft yarns than warp yarns. This gives the fabric an extra soft interior resulting in additional comfort from the get-go.

For the selvedge ID, they used the colors ‘Azurri’ (blue) and ‘Oranje’ (orange). These colors pay homage to both collaborating companies’ national sports colors, Italy and The Netherlands. It’s also a nod towards the long-standing friendship between both Benzak and Candiani.

The Design Of The Pocket Flasher And Patch

To celebrate the partnership between Benzak and Bonne Suits, they designed a special pocket flasher, featuring Malvin the Cat. This design is created by illustrator Floor van het Nederend, which is one of the brand’s personal favorite Dutch illustrators.
Next to the special pocket flasher, the jacket, and jeans feature the specially developed collaboration patch.
