Garcia’s Most Sustainable Collection So Far
Last month Garcia released their most sustainable denim capsule collection so far for men and women in their 50-years of denim history. To clean the industry is an ambitious journey, but Garcia achieved to make their first big difference with the launch of its sustainable denim collection. Now, let’s zoom in on the six unique details of their most sustainable jeans.
The 6 Unique Details Of Garcia’s Most Sustainable Jeans
To make the most sustainable jeans, Garcia started to examine the best sellers in the collection and looked for solutions to make these more sustainable. Choosing three jeans styles per gender, they created their most sustainable jeans so far. And these are the six unique details;
Feature #1: Post-consumer Cotton
All post-consumer recycled cotton products use cotton fabric and fibers that are normally wasted after use. For example, cotton garments, towels, and cotton household items.
Feature #2: Organic Cotton
Organic cotton is grown without the use of chemicals and fertilizers, which means it has a much lower impact on the environment. In the long run, less water is used on organic cotton plants because the soil is richer in natural nutrients which can retain water better.
Feature #3: Sustainable Wash
A sustainable wash is a treatment that uses less water, energy, and chemicals and has less worker impact than traditional wash treatments. The impact of the wash is measured by an Environmental Impact Measurement (EIM) scoring system.
Feature #4: Recycled Cotton
Recycled cotton is made mainly from recycled PET plastic bottles.
Feature #5: Embroidered Rivet
Garcia removed the metal rivets and used bartack stitches that emulated the traditional shape of a rivet.
Feature #6: Laser Back Patch
The traditional back patch was replaced with an artwork created by laser to save the use of extra material for a back patch.
