As hemp emerged as the frontrunner in sustainability, it was a natural step to focus on this natural fiber. It offers numerous benefits over traditional cotton. Hemp grows rapidly with minimal water and chemical requirements. It boasts superior strength, durability, and antimicrobial properties. Unlike cotton, hemp’s deep roots prevent soil erosion, making it an environmentally sound choice.

The Groundbreaking Hemp Cultivation Project
In the fertile lands of Pakistan, particularly suited to hemp cultivation, US Denim Mills of US Group partnered with the University of Agriculture, Faisalabad, to spearhead a groundbreaking hemp cultivation project. Leveraging cutting-edge research and a diverse team of experts, they successfully integrated hemp fibers into denim manufacturing, unlocking their full potential.
US Denim Mills of US Group embarked on an extensive wild hemp research in 2021, followed by seed selection and sowing in 2022-2023. By June 2023, mature hemp plants stood tall, ready for mechanical decortication to extract the bast fiber. After careful processing, hemp fibers were seamlessly blended with cotton in March 2024, resulting in a versatile yarn ideal for fabric production.
From Seed to Jeans
The culmination of this journey saw the development of a capsule collection of denim fabric, Sativa ReJean, seamlessly pushing forward the idea of #SeedtoJeans by blending hemp and cotton fibers.
