Vintage Textile Dealer And Maker
Old Industrial Studio is a Japanese vintage textile dealer and bag maker from the rural city of Chiba prefecture in Japan. They make hand-crafted bags from Japanese vintage materials since 2015. They love the old Japanese traditional culture, which goes further than only textile. They see it as a challenge to mix old with new to give it a second life.
Authentic Rice Bags
They developed several indigo-dyed rice bags made of old rags. These authentic rice bags are also called Komebukuro. They’re usually made of small pieces of fabric, which could be hemp or cotton. Indigo fabrics or others with motives. The fabrics are stitched together randomly as a patchwork to achieve a playful look.
The Origin Of These Rice Bags
Originally these rice bags were made to carry (dried) rice offerings to the temple during important religious ceremonies, and at other times to hold a gift destined for a dear friend or relative connected to a significant personal event.
The Old Industrial Studio rice bags can be used to carry your personal belongings each day.
Availability Of The Bags
Old Industrial Studio doesn’t have a retail location, but their items are available via their webstore.
