Original Vintage Lee Jeans Rider Jacket From 1950s
It’s not a secret that I have a weakness for old vintage denim jackets. Especially when they are patched or natural destroyed with wear during all the years by the previous owner(s). Sometimes you come across vintage denim items which are amazing by the look. They look like a true piece of denim art. This original Lee Jeans Rider jacket is one of them.
The Golden Period In Denim History
I already have a lot of Lee Jeans Rider jackets from the ’60’s and ’70’s in my denim archive, but this highlighted blue treasure is an original 101-J from the 1950’s. This period is also known as the ‘Golden Period‘ as denim became so popular after WW2.
The Perfect Vintage Condition
Not so long ago I already scored another jacket from the same period, but that jacket is totally washed out and destroyed with time and wear by the previous owner(s). This new Lee Jeans Rider 101-J jacket in my denim archive is in perfect vintage condition. It features a perfect blue vintage colour and the golden/red neck label looks almost like new after all those years! Old Lee jackets in these mint condition are hard to find nowadays and are true denim collector items. Very happy to add this blue beauty to my private denim collection!
Hey, Wouter! I discovered a 1950s Lee Rider denim jacket like yours, LOT 101-J, Size 36 Long, Design Patented No. 153438. It is in incredible condition. It belonged to my mother and I have seen a photo of her wearing it after deer hunting in Texas, in the mid 1950s. There are a couple of small stains on the right sleeve, under the sleeve’s cuff. How much is a jacket like this worth and where should it be marketed?
