What’s your favorite denim brand?
I really dig and respect the original ones, who created the history of jeans (not hard to guess). There are also a few good contemporary ones out there, I don’t want to leave anyone out, so I will just leave it at that.
What’s your favorite pair of jeans?
In general, I think it is hard to beat the original 501, and many of its iterations over the years. Personally I now tend to wear jeans that I designed or have had tailor made.
What’s your favorite denim jacket?
There are really only 3 denim jackets, the Levi’s Trucker, the Lee 101-J and the classic Wrangler, these 3 have inspired all the ones that came after; my preference goes to the 101-J.
What’s your favorite footwear brand?
I have to name at least 3, Converse, Clarks and Red Wings.
What’s your favorite retailer?
So many great ones around the world, how does one choose? I really always like Dover Street Market….
What’s your favorite Instagrammer or person in the denim industry?
These 3 are the denim designers who shaped the industry: Adriano Goldschmied, François Girbaud and Pierre Morriset.
What’s your favorite accessory?
I have a love-hate relationship with cell phones, but nowadays I find my Samsung Fold a really useful tool/accessory. Otherwise, right now my favorite sunglasses are from Yohji Yamamoto. A vintage Rolex watch is also almost always on my wrist.
What’s your favorite food?
I gave up meat almost 30 years ago, I am almost vegan now; I will eat from any cuisine, but my favorite comfort food is still a good neapolitan pizza.
What’s your favorite music?
I used to work as DJ in clubs and radio stations before I joined the apparel industry, so my taste is pretty varied; if I had to pick one, it would be any good old Miles Davis.
What’s your favorite book?
I have always done a lot of reading, not sure I have ONE favorite. ‘Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance’ springs to mind….
What’s your favorite quote?
“You can find inspiration in everything, and if you can’t please look again”, I saw it first at a museum exhibit dedicated to Paul Smith’s design and it stuck with me.
