- Name: Tilmann Wrobel aka Monsieur-T.
- Location: Born and raised in Düsseldorf, Germany, but living in France for more than 30 years (first Paris and now Biarritz).
- Profession: A fashion designer since forever, also trained in market research, product marketing & communication. I founded in 2007 the creative consultancy Monsieur-T. Specialized in denim. Of which I am the creative director.

What’s your favorite denim brand?
Momotaro & Japan Blue, The Real McCoys, and Kapital.
What’s your favorite pair of jeans?
The Cooper Collection selvedge pant: I designed this pant a few years ago, in a 15oz Blue Selvedge (Berto) fabric, with solid (no coatings) red copper washer rivets & hardware, hand tinted shuttleloom lables etc…..Lean, mean, sturdy, and fully authentic.
And a pair of Japan Blue double indigo jeans. (The weft slub is very rugged and lose which creates a fantastic surface structure and “heavy fade” like my Swiss Jeansfreak friend would say….).
What’s your favorite denim jacket?
My LVC Trucker selvedge “555 rivet” jacket, I bought in 1991….Worn since 29 years, without any wash. It looks so good, it has crossed so many adventures and experiences with me….It’s almost like a part of me.
What’s your favorite footwear brand?
Trickers. Trickers of London…in Navy blue….The smoothest, chunkiest and coolest brogues on earth.
What’s your favorite retailer?
Son of a Stag, Tenue de Nimes, Jinji, Burg & Schild, American Rag, because of the shopping experience and the focused offer.
What’s your favorite Instagrammer or person in the denim industry?
That is a tough question. There aren’t many, but you are definitely part of the social media heroes. As a person in the denim industry. Jean Elbaz, with whom I had the chance to work and travel a lot. He has always been very inspiring to me.
What’s your favorite accessory?
My super chunky ultra-heavy PHERROW leather belts. I love them.
What’s your favorite food?
A bit like Dr Jekyll and Mister Hyde. I love to eat at a great “chef” restaurant, and I can crave for a spicy Kebab at the corner of a city-street….
What’s your favorite music?
Electro since ever. With a period of agressive underground Rock n’ Roll. But I’d say, nothing can beat Kraftwerk, and that large amount of french touch, or inspired electro sound, which makes me dance with my Nikka coffee grain whiskey in my hands.
What’s your favorite book?
Oh my god, books used to be my biggest inspiration, but that was yesterday. The last book which kept me awake, was about Elon Musk.
What’s your favorite quote?
“Design is a good idea” (Emigre).
