Last week Celia Geraedts, from Blue Print Amsterdam, was so kind to dip two of my Long John t-shirts in natural indigo. One Long John x Pike Brothers collab shirt and one original LJ anchor shirt. Celia is a wel known dyeing specialist and knows how to handle with natural indigo. She made one shirt more lighter blue and the other one dark blue. The results are extremly nice! The dark blue shirt has a red print and is still visible through the indigo. Both shirts are one of a kind and are made for my private collection. The pictures below show the magical process of indigo, you see that the shirts first came out with a nice green colour and changed into blue by the time the shirts got in contact with oxygen. That’s how this authentic way of colouring works! And that’s why they also speak about blue gold.
Until the end of this month Blue Print has a shop loaded with rare indigo items between the Spuistraat and Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal in Amsterdam. And they organise indigo dye workshops too! Check it out fast as the workshops are very popular. Many thanks Celia for dipping the shirts in beautiful blue colours and success this upcoming month!
