The Story Of The Jeans

The story of this vintage pair of Wrangler jeans started when Darn Vintage by Tony Wloch put this extraordinary piece on their Instagram account @darnvintage. Tony Wloch is a fashion designer based in San Francisco, California who’s selling vintage clothing too. He’s selling vintage treasures via his Etsy store here. Tony got his hands on this heavily worn-out pair of Wrangler jeans through a guy that clears out estates for a living. The seller found these jeans in a box in a field in Northern California farmhouse. In the same box were a couple of more pairs, but saved these for a friend. These shown Wrangler jeans were sold to Tony of Darn Vintage.

It was March 2018 when Darn Vintage shared these crazy Wrangler jeans via their Instagram account. He made a couple of fitting pictures too, which took them around 20 minutes with 2 people to get these jeans on. The female model is wearing a full stocking as an underlayer otherwise it was a mission impossible.

Now, fast-forward to May 2019, and this same jeans came along again on the Instagram feed of Sean Gormley, @go_sean, head designer of Wrangler Europe. Sean shared pictures of these jeans with the text that they bought this piece for their archive. He’s also sharing that these jeans is probably one of the first Wrangler examples that are made with Polyester and Spandex, which explains that only the synthetic fibers, metal parts and plastic Wrangler patch on the back pocket survived during the years.

The Wrangler jeans is now back home at the brand again and part of their historical archive. It’s a true piece of denim art which can be used as inspiration for their future collections.
