966 Wear Days By King-Yu Yiu
Denim creator King-Yu Yiu developed a two-piece denim suit more than two years ago that is heavily inspired by 1920’s miner overalls. This bespoke Canadian Tuxedo is made with a 16.5oz, 3×1 right-hand twill selvedge fabric from Cone Denim. It’s a 100% cotton “Galaxy Blue” shade woven on a 30” authentic shuttle loom. Now, this double denim outfit is reaching its 1.000 wear days as it’s worn for 966 days (31 months) at the moment, so time for an update.
The Two Bespoke Denim Styles
The jeans is a clean five-pocket jean style, while the jacket is a double-pleated design. The jeans is a straight with loose legs fit but tailored with slight tapering from the knees onwards. The jeans feature a high rise and roomier thigh fit while maintaining a smaller leg opening to achieve a contemporary cut.
The double-pleated denim jacket is made with the exact original specifications with a regular box ‘workman’ silhouette. For King-Yu Yiu, real denim is what it was originally developed for, its manual labor purposes, which meant for him going back to the basics of workwear as you simply cannot beat the classics.
